English Learning through Digital Technologies | |||

This course introduces seniors and juniors to digital English learning, as well as to the use and study of computer and the Internet in developing English. Students will (a) learn about the historical and cross-disciplinary foundations of computer assisted language learning (CALL); (b) study current materials on CALL books and selected websites to gain an understanding of practices and issues; (c) share findings with the class in the classroom and on the Internet; and (d) learn how to apply, design, and evaluate digital English learning in courseware and on the websites. In addition, students will learn how to create and develop an Internet-based lesson for digital English learning by using texts, images, audio, and video clips. The activities in this courselearning digital English, studying the materials, and developing a digital English lessonwill strengthen students' knowledge of the issues associated with use of digital technologies in English learning, and will guide them to identify areas for further study. |
