Vietnam Cultural Day

We would like to express our sincere thanks and high appreciation for help and support from all sponsors and friends. Our program was successful and made a deep impression on audiences. They were not only satisfied with our performances but also our comprehensive preparations and services. Generally, the aims of Vietnam Cultural Day activity, introducing a general view about Vietnam’s culture, people and the country and building a common understanding and firm relationship among foreign and local students, were reached through various activities such as foods, photo exhibition and art performances. In this activity, Vietnamese students from Southern Taiwan University of Technology, Shu-Te University, National Yun Lin University of Science and Technology had contributions to our art performances. In addition, Vietnamese students from National Taiwan University and other Institutions in Taipei joined this activity as guests. The succeed of this event was also contributed by foreign students from America, South Africa, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Mongolia, India, Philippine and Taiwanese friends. The main participants in this activity were more than 50.
Vietnamese Cultural Day was held on March 23, 2007 at Feng-Huangshu Theater – Kuang Fu Campus, National Cheng Kung University. For the sake of this event’s success, a rehearsal was held on March 21, (2 prior days to the event). On March 22, every step of preparations for this event was checked and got ready for the show. On March 23, students who are in charged of preparing food festival started this day at 6 am, following by other sectors around 8 am. At 3:30pm, preparations for direction signal, outside and inside decoration and photo exhibition were completed. Around 4 pm, our receptionist began greeting the first guests. From 4-5pm, Introduction of Vietnam Culture was the main activity. It included brief presentation taken by Prof. Van, and video clips about people, culture and cities in Vietnam. This section was end by the song “Bonjour Vietnam” written by a French composer, Marc Lavoine, and performed by Vietnamese singer, Pham Quynh Anh. With the warm tone, singer Pham Quynh Anh has made audiences felt the beauties of Vietnam by all senses.
The next section contained cultural gallery and food festival, held right outside Feng-Huang Shu theatre, lasting from 5 pm to 7pm. Cultural gallery with more than 60 photos and items has brought about a general view about Vietnam. Guests explored beautiful landscapes of 3 main regions (North, Middle and South) of Vietnam. In addition, they joined our most important festival of the year, New Year festival through photos portraying Vietnamese citizens during this time. Besides, they had a chance to get to know about one kind of folk art painting, Dong Ho folk paintings. The display items, together with food festival, with 4 typical repasts, served more than 200 dishes, made the Day more interesting by enabling investors to fell the sense of Vietnam.
The night section with the topic: Vietnam – Our Love and Pride was started by speech of Mr. Hung and Ms. Quynh – President of Vietnamese Students Association. Ms. Quynh has official announced the formation of Vietnam Students Association. Following the speech of Ms. Quynh were 10 art turns performed by more than 40 students from National Cheng Kung University, Southern Taiwan University of Technology, Shu-Te University, National Yun Lin University of Science and Technology. Audiences merged into the romantic lyric with the folk song “Con duyen” or youthful and ebullient air with “Trong com” performance and bamboo dancing or magnanimousness of “Dong mau lac hong” performance. Audiences were surprised by the presence of foreign models in Vietnamese costumes. Female models seemed to be more gentle and beautiful in Vietnam traditional long dress. The Vietnam Cultural Day was ended by the group songs by all participants and cheering from all audiences, making the air of Feng-Huang Shu theatre become hotter and filled full of smiles and happiness.
The Vietnam Culture Day was successful out of our expectation and made a special impression on audiences. The success of Vietnam Cultural Day was greatly attributed to your help and support.
